Coral and navy bedroom

If you follow me on instagram you got some sneak peeks of my daughter's new bedroom. Over the holiday break we decided to tackle a little makeover.

We began the process with a couple days of sorting and purging. She's eleven and was willing to donate bags of stuffed animals and toys. The end result is a much more mature and calming room that should last into her teenage years. The wall color is Behr graceful gray.

Her is a quick glimpse at her room before. LOT'S of hot pink and zebra!

After organizing and purging items in her room we completely emptied the closet and repeated the same process. Sorry no before photos of the closet, but it was jam packed with "stuff". After everything was out my husband removed the shelf and I painted the closet. She already had a set of white cubbies in her room but I thought they would work much better in the closet. We attached scrapbook paper to the backs of some of the cubbies and my husband anchored it to the wall and installed the wire shelf.

The toys that she did decide to keep fit perfectly on the top shelf. The bottom bins hold shoes, purses and bags. I also added some hooks to the side of the wall to hang her hats, scarves and belts.

The other side of the closet has plenty of room for hanging clothes. On top I keep a bin of hand me down clothes from her sister that are still too big and one bin of stuffed animals.
On the bottom she also has another bin full of her Webkinz and still has room for a laundry basket.

The closet doors were dingy and needed repainting so we decided to add some color and painted them a pretty mint green called sprinkle by Behr.

Her zebra desk also got a makeover with some sandpaper and white paint.

I fell in LOVE with this gold hardware from Hobby Lobby!

Since I was on a tight budget I was thrilled to find this gold frame at Target for just $2.00!

I stole this white frame from my dining room (which now has an empty wall) and added this banner I made with scrapbook paper and paint.

In the future I would love to replace her bed (this is the top of a bunk bed set from way back when my girls shared a room). For now this will work until I find the perfect budget friendly version.

My daughter had to have the navy anchor light we found at Hobby Lobby. Luckily it was on clearance and it does look lovely over her bed.

I am a huge fan of gallery walls (I have them everywhere) so it was a no brainer that she needed one to fill the empty wall.
Most of the pieces came from my favorite store (yes, Hobby Lobby). I made the arrow and small "be you tiful" sign to match.

The bedding was actually our starting point for this room. We purchased it at Target over the summer while it was on sale.
The white ruffle curtains are also from Target.

I purchased some yarn from Michael's and my daughter and I made the yarn garland together.

The room feels so much bigger now and much more relaxing.

I am still on the hunt for a large dresser to go on the opposite side of her room. Hoping to find something at a garage sale or thrift shop in the future. I'm also planning on doing some diy artwork to hang over the dresser.

Thanks for coming by today!

    1. Yes, all the white picture frames came from Hobby Lobby. These were in the back with the wall frames. Only thing I didn't like about them was that once I got them home and ready to hang up discovered they had NO hangers on the back which I found odd. Luckily I had some sawtooth hangers already that I had to put on myself.
